This is at step 1 of phase 2 when installing Exchange Server 2003. Everything went fine through phase 1 but now I can't run /forestprep. I am on a Windows 2003 domain and all FSMO roles are on the same DC. I can't find how to get past this. Thanks for any help.

Hi, This is a known issue (it just tells you to install the latest exchange service pack as soon as possible) but normally it is possible to continue the installation after accepting the warning. This is not your case? Leif

I have tried to install exchane 2003 on my domain and it gave me this message. After which it updated the schema then errored out. When i go to run /domainprep it states forestprep is has not been completed.

This is just a default pop-up from Windows warning you that you should apply SP2 for Exchange 2003 as soon as you are done installing. I.E. It is safe to ignore this message: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555285 Good Luck.

I have the same trouble. While trying to install Exchange Server 2003 I get an error message that states: "Exchange Server 2003 has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For more information see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=37488"The button "contunue" doesn't active so I cannot skip this error. server - win 2003 sp2

You will ALWAYS get a prompt saying this version of Exchange 2003 is not compatible with this version of Windows 2003 if you install Exchange on a Windows 2003 server with any service pack level. That is 100% completely normal as it is just Microsoft's round about way of telling you to immediately apply SP2 once the installation process is complete. Now as to why your Continue button does nothing...I am not sure I have an answer there. First thing I would try would be to copy the installation files to a folder local to the server. And I would also reboot the server first to make sure there is nothing stuck in memory. Lastly I would turn off any antivirus software I had on the server just in case it was messing with the process. If that doesn't work, then something is seriously wrong with your server if the Continue button doesn't work. Good Luck!

I am having a simular problem, i am running windows 2003 server R2 SP2, i am only trying to install system manager on this Domain Controller, when i get to the point of the install for component selection, if i click the drop down in the Action column the only option i get is update, but even if i try that it says you have to have exchange installed. any ideas? thanks in advance.

You don't have a problem with your server. I have exactly the same problem. I am trying to extend the W2K3 schema for Exchange without having to install itself. Theerror messages are unhelpful. I am using a virtual machine though, if this has any bearing.

We were having the same issue with the Continue button not active... We just kept clicking on Continue, and error out, and Continue, etc.... until after about 5-7 times it finally worked.
